mirrowing into eternity

"Skype Me" are screenshots from a “self-reflective” video call between two laptops placed directly opposite one another resulting in the endless images of two mirrors opposite each other.
In this looping feedback environment, the user becomes both observed (subject) and observer exposing the mechanics of telepresence and self-surveillance.
The mirrored call becomes a dialogue between machines—a digital ping-pong of data that exemplifies the hidden infrastructure of constant energy use for connectivity, where every interaction draws on servers, bandwidth, and electrical grids, creating a constant stream electrons.
Referencing early internet art and derived from the default interfaces of video conferencing, Skype Me subtly critiques the normalization of surveillance and the performative nature of online presence.
Viewers are invited to witness a space where communication bounces around and communication loops endlessly only echoing within an digital space.
